Effective September 2026: Service Changes in San Diego, CA
After 15 years in the San Diego area, we no longer have a trainer on our team to connect you with for Board and Train or Boarding Services. We are sad to miss out on supporting the community we built there for so long, but we have officially transitioned our headquarters to Eastern Washington. We do adopt out of state, however, and routinely transport dogs to/from San Diego, so please reach out if you’re interested in adopting one of our trained dogs.
THE PURPOSE OF HOPE2K9 FOUNDATION
Hope2K9’s primary mission is to prevent dogs from needing to enter shelters and rescues, by providing education and support to dog owners who are struggling. We believe that the best place for your badly behaved dog, is trained and in your home. Let us help you take the next right step toward achieving calmness, control and a brilliant lifetime of connection between you and your dog.
WHEN WE HELP OUR DOGS, WE HELP OURSELVES
In the event that a dog must be rehomed, our adoptable dogs have come from shelters, other rescues, or have been surrendered by owners who are no longer able to care for them, then we provide each dog with a full board and train program to prepare them for a great future with the right fit adopter.
We do not discriminate against special needs dogs, but do have limits to our resources for care and adoptability of such dogs. Occasionally we will receive a dog in for adoption that was previously trained for one of our private training clients, but the owner is no longer able to care for their dog and wants to know it will be placed somewhere with adequate follow through to honor the dog’s skills; this is an amazing opportunity for some lucky adopter, since so much about this dog is already known.
Unlike adopting from a shelter, we can empower you to speak the same language as your dog, provide clear leadership and advocacy, and truly experience freedom and peace of mind from the start. Our dog adoption program is funded by adoption fees, donations, and the boarding services we provide, which are tax deductible.
If you’re interested in training for your dog, please complete a contact form and we will be in touch with you right away for a FREE evaluation or phone consultation.
